The applied research and industrial activities conducted within the Edge AI and Vision group of CSEM are devoted to capture, process and information from scenes. Our activity spreads from the development of complete system solution and innovative ASIC for pre-processing images to the algorithmic for elaborating the captured information.

 

Your mission

  • You will participate in our efforts in research and development for low power vision systems at the algorithmic level.
  • You will work on developing vision systems starting from the acquisition of the best data (1D signals, images, or videos) possible to the development and implementation of advanced machine learning techniques.
  • You will also lead multidisciplinary industrial projects (link with other CSEM activity fields) and participate in their acquisition.

 

Your responsibilities

  • Research efficient AI architectures and lightweight vision algorithms.
  • Develop and optimize vision models for detection, tracking, segmentation, and recognition.
  • Apply model compression techniques including but not limited to quantization, pruning, knowledge distillation, low-rank methods.
  • Work on practical approaches to domain gap reduction and embedding alignment for new modalities.
  • Optimize and deploy models on edge devices (Jetson, ARM, Qualcomm, mobile NPUs).
  • Build efficient preprocessing and classical imaging pipelines (filters, transforms, calibration).
  • Improve inference speed using toolkits such as TensorRT, ONNX Runtime, TFLite, OpenVINO, CoreML, or similar tools.
  • Profile algorithm/model latency, memory, and throughput to meet device constraints.
  • Document experiments, benchmarks, and deployment workflows.

 

Your profile

Know-how

  • Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or related field (Master’s/PhD preferred).
  • Strong foundation in classical image processing and image analysis.
  • Knowledge of 3D vision algorithms including camera calibration, 3D reconstruction, and SLAM.
  • Hands-on experience with PyTorch or TensorFlow and solid OpenCV skills.
  • Knowledge of model optimization techniques for edge deployment.
  • Experience with embedded platforms and working under hardware constraints.
  • Strong Python and C++ programming skills.
  • Experience profiling and tuning model performance.
  • Experience with microcontroller/TinyML platforms (preferred).
  • Familiarity with video pipelines and real-time processing (preferred).
  • Knowledge of sensor fusion approaches (preferred).
  • CUDA or GPU programming experience (preferred).
  • Experience designing or training lightweight model architectures (preferred).
