Our AI for Life Sciences team extends CSEM’s capabilities in cell microsystems, biomonitoring, and lab automation with advanced data science and machine learning. We develop computational and ML tools to analyze omics and phenotypic data, integrate clinical information, and interpret molecular signatures from custom sensors and instruments. This environment offers a unique opportunity for a Biomedical ML Scientist to contribute to high-impact technology development and technology transfer and create next-generation analytical methods at the intersection of biology, data science, and engineering.

 

Your mission

Your mission is to lead the design and deployment of advanced machine learning solutions, using deep technical expertise and strong communications skills to guide teams in selecting, building, and refining state-of-the-art ML architectures that meet biomedical project requirements and deliver robust, high-impact solutions for our customers.

Your responsibilities

• Develop custom and novel machine learning algorithms.
• Apply state-of-the-art computational, bioinformatics, and biostatistical methods.
• Build and maintain robust data processing and machine learning pipelines.
• Explore, analyze, and visualize diverse omics datasets.
• Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams across CSEM.
• Manage industrial and research work packages or projects, including resources, goals, risks, and budgets.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with partners and customers at national and international levels.
• Proactively propose new project ideas and research directions.
• Participate in project acquisition

 

Your profile

Know-how

• Master’s or PhD in computer science, machine learning, data science, or a related quantitative field; 3+ years of relevant experience, preferably in industry.
• Strong foundation in machine learning and deep learning, with experience applying these methods to real-world datasets.
• Proficiency in Python (and R) and modern ML frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX.
• Experience with large-scale data processing, high-performance computing environments, cloud computing, and Linux/Unix command-line workflows.
• Excellent skills in data analysis, data visualization and statistical programming.
• Ability to work with complex, heterogeneous datasets; experience integrating multi-omic or high-dimensional biological data is a plus.
• Solid understanding of basic biological concepts and willingness to learn domain-specific knowledge.
• Demonstrated record of peer-reviewed publications or conference contributions (e.g., NeurIPS, ICML) is a plus.
• Experience in biomedical image analysis or computer vision for scientific data is a plus.
• Experience with explainable AI (XAI) and model interpretability techniques is a plus.
• Project management experience is a plus
