Our dynamic and successful Business Unit dedicated to Medical Technologies, based in Bern and Neuchâtel, Switzerland, is looking for a business-savvy, inspiring and communicative Business Unit Leader.
Your responsibilities
Strategic
- Define and deploy the strategy of the Business Unit in alignment with the company’s strategy
- Proactively participate to the Executive Committee
- Lead the relationship with our local stakeholders (Canton BE, Insel Gruppe, UniBE)
- Approve the research program and activities of the BU
- Approve the business development programs
- Drive and supervise the business acquisition and ensure a good relationship with all internal and external partners
- Define the BU marketing activities and communication with the central Business Development and MARCOM team
- Proactively support the internal collaboration with the other BU Leaders
Financial
- Define, control and ensure the BU’s budget and financial reporting
- Manage and approve the project portfolio and all BU investments
- Drive and supervise the Bern Medtech Collaboration initiative with the local stakeholders
Quality management/ISO
- Ensure that the BU meets the company’s Quality standards (ISO Standards 9001 and 14001)
- Supervise and ensure the BU ISO-13485 Quality standards
- Supervise external audits and evaluate external audit reports, in collaboration with the Quality Managers
Human Resources/Management
- Lead a BU of over 60 experts and engineers
- Directly manage a team of 8 senior leaders (Deputy BU Leader, Group Leaders, Research & Development Managers, Medical Quality Manager, Finance & Controlling Manager)
- Define annual goals and ensure the development of all employees at BU level, in particular the development of young talents
- Maintain a motivating and balanced high-tech working environment
- In collaboration with the VP Human Resources and HRBP, approve all hirings and promotions, and ensure the equity of salaries
Relationships
- Responsible for the political networking and contracts in the Canton of Bern
- Responsible for political support of the Canton of Bern and at the federal level
- Responsible for the networking with regional industry leaders and the economic promotion offices
- Responsible for the management of the local stakeholders at the Insel Campus (Insel Gruppe, UniBE, SITEM, BfH)
Your Profile
Know-how
- At least a Master’s degree in (biomedical) engineering, PhD or MBA as an asset
- At least 10 years experience in a management position in the Medtech industry
- High level overview and understanding of the Medtech industry worldwide
- Business acumen and understanding of the digital health markets
- Good understanding of linked technological domains in micro-technology and -electronics, cloud computing and AI
- Strong capabilities to drive financial aspects and work closely with the financial controller
- Deep knowledge of political processes and ability to quickly build a solid network in the regions
- Proven experience in managing and motivating teams of highly skilled technical experts
- Fluent in Swiss German, German, and English – French is a plus
- Living in German-speaking Switzerland, ideally close to one of the Business Unit sites
