The human body comprises many soft tissues - the Bioindenter tests and characterizes mechanical properties of almost every one. The Bioindenter analyzes cartilage, tendons, ligaments and muscle. It probes the cardiovascular system's tissues including the heart, capillaries, veins and arteries.

The ground-breaking Bioindenter can examine an incredibly wide range of tissues including in vitro skin models, artificial grafts and corneal explants.

Dedicated to biological samples, the Bioindenter can help investigate the pathology of many conditions. It opens up a new domain for high precision indentation instruments.

The Bioindenter probes the relationship between applied force and indentation depth, determining localized mechanical properties such as elasticity. From refining disease models and pharmacology, to developing new drugs, engineering tissues and improving diagnosis, Bioindenter's potential uses are diverse. Its possibilities to help mankind are endless.

The Bioindenter was developed in close collaboration between CSM Instruments (acquired by Anton Paar GmbH) and CSEM. This project was supported by Innosuisse, the Swiss Innovation Agency.
