We are looking for a passionate Battery Management System Hardware & Mechanical Design Intern – starting date by arrangement / 6 months (flexible: 4–8 months).

Your mission

You will join a team of electronics, firmware, and battery engineers to develop and validate an automotive-grade distributed Battery Management System.

Your responsibilities

  • Design multi-layer PCBs for the Master and Slave BMS boards, including schematic capture and PCB layout in Altium Designer (or equivalent), following automotive design rules and reliability standards
  • Prepare complete manufacturing documentation packages, including Gerber files, BOMs, and assembly drawings, ready for prototype production and supplier handoff
  • Design and validate wire harnesses connecting battery cells, Slave modules, and the Master BMS, selecting automotive-grade connectors and verifying electrical integrity through continuity, insulation resistance, and Hi-Pot testing
  • Develop ruggedized enclosures for BMS units, creating 3D CAD models and printed prototypes to validate fit, mounting, protection, integration, serviceability, and functionality
  • Lead the system from bench-level verification through on-car commissioning, validating BMS performance and integration in a prototype vehicle under real operating conditions

Your profile

Know-how

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or internship student in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics, Microengineering, or Mechanical Engineering
  • Foundation in analog and digital electronics, or electromechanical design
  • Familiarity with PCB design tools (Altium Designer preferred)
  • Basic understanding of battery systems and BMS architectures
  • Ability to read and interpret datasheets, application notes, and reference designs from semiconductor vendors
  • Hands-on experience with soldering, lab bench testing, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers.
  • 3D CAD experience (SolidWorks, CATIA) for enclosure or mechanical design tasks is a plus
  • Proficiency in English (written and spoken); French or German is a plus
