Our “Biosystems Engineering” group, based in Allschwil, Switzerland is looking for an intern in Biosystems Engineering.
Your mission
This internship will contribute to the single cell technology activities at CSEM Allschwil, closely aligned with the Tools for Life Sciences Roadmap. The work will comprise development and testing of microfluidic devices for the analysis of biological samples. It will moreover comprise technical characterization and system validations of project setups related to biosensors and novel experimental assays for diagnostics and therapeutics, all in a multi-disciplinary environment. Support in cell culture and microbial strain maintenance might be foreseen.
Your responsibilities
As an intern, your main responsabilities will be :
Technical
- Manage your laboratory activities according to CSEM's quality management system (ISO 9001 and ISO 14001).
- Documente your own work and work of colleagues.
- Supporte the laboratory maintenance and procurement.
Communication
- Communicate well CSEM internally and with external contacts in case needed.
- Develop internal network.
Your profile
Know-how
- Master level studies at ETH/EPFL domain in microtechnologies and/or biomedical engineering.
- Pre-experienced in bio-microfluidic applications, such as droplet microfluidics
- Experience in microfabrication technologies and microscopy is highly advantageous
- Experience in cell biology and/or microbiology is considered helpful
- Experience in microbial culture and expression systems (cloning, downstream processing, analytical techniques) is helpful
- Understanding of biomaterials, polymers, and hydrogels is helpful
- Experience in documentation of project results following ISO 9001
- Experience in laboratory work under ISO 14001
- Fluent in English is a requirement, German and/or French language skills are a plus but not necessary
