The objective of this group is to provide the software backbone (including drivers, security concept, power optimization, communication stacks, integration, cloud computing) required by resource-limited embedded applications covering many markets, from IoMT, medical wearables and systems, to cloud computing.

Your mission

In close partnership with the Leader of the Systems Business Unit, the other Group Leaders of the Digital Health research activitiy and business stakeholders, you oversee the definition of the technological roadmap of your group. You lead and manage the Group’s operations, set and monitor the budget and ensure the smooth running of all projects.

Your responsibilities

  • Guide, manage and motivate a team of 15 highly qualified Engineers and Scientists (healthy mix of young graduates and experienced specialists)
  • Lead the business activities and portfolio of projects of the Group, as well as projects acquisition and negotiation, seeking new industrial and academic projects as well as their funding
  • Coordinate the execution of simultaneous projects, ensuring quality and optimizing resource allocation
  • Participate in trade shows, conferences and other marketing activities to promote the Digital Health technologies
  • Maintain a good understanding of the market and the evolution of technologies related to security, embedded software (including RTOS) and communication protocols
  • Promote and guide the innovation process inside the Group (development of innovative IPs, filing of patents and dissemination through the writing of academic papers)
  • Closely collaborate with the other Groups and Business Units within CSEM, as well as with academic and industrial partners in Switzerland and worldwide.

Place of work will be Bern and Neuchâtel.

Your profile

Know-how

  • Master or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or Microtechnology with min. 5 years of experience in the management of multi-disciplinary projects
  • Experience in some of the application fields of IoMT, wearables, embedded real-time SW, SaaS, SaMD
  • Experience in DevOps and the use of big databases engines (e.g., Hadoop, MapReduce, Hive, Pig, data streaming, NoSQL, SQL or equivalent)
  • Experience in vital signs monitoring (ECG, PPG, IKG…) or active medical devices
  • Experience in working in normed environments such as ISO 13485 / IEC 62304 for medical device software
  • Fluency in English is a must; fluency in French and/or German, knowledge of the other language is a plus
