The “Smart Connected Systems” group of our “Integrated & Wireless Systems” Business Unit based in Neuchâtel, Switzerland, is currently looking for a:
The applied research and industrial activities conducted within the Smart Connected Systems group of CSEM are devoted to Sustainable Electronics and Wireless Power Transfer. We need a post-doctoral student with past work in the field of embedded electronics / printed electronics / sustainable materials-processes and highly motivated to explore materials, processes, and design shifts toward more sustainable IoT solutions.
Your mission
Will be to participate research projects for the development of sustainable embedded electronics and IoT; elaborating embedded systems architectures (IoT) implementing designs for disassembly / recycling and designs for disposal integrating environmentally neutral electronics components and interconnect elaborated by projects partners. You will frame the work of PhD students working in the field and contribute to promote and maintain our relationship with the academic.
Your responsibilities
- Elaborate a portfolio of materials and processes to replace actual solutions
- Check footprint of these alternatives using LCA tools (with help of experts)
- Appraise the TRL and industrial relevancy of the evaluated solutions
- Design innovative remote sensing systems architectures (IoT) with stringent sustainability requirements to provide proof-of-concept and demonstrators
- Elaborate a portfolio of sustainable architectures with their characteristics (footprint, TRL, performances, …)
- Manage activities in EU projects and ensure proper reporting and delivery.
- Mentor and frame our PhDs working in the field.
- Publish scientific and technical papers.
- Comply with our corporate PM methodology (link with the PMO).
- Document your work on a regular basis according to corporate methodolog
Your profile
Know-how
- PhD Degree in Electronic engineering (in a field tied to small electronics: ultra-low-power embedded electronics, remote sensing, IoT, smart assays, wearables, …)
- Strong system design and development skills (architect).
- Good notions of materials sciences, manufacturing processes, chemistry, biology or ecology
- Previous publications in any of the mentioned fields, with concrete outcomes (prototypes)
Interpersonal skills
- Curious, proactive and considered as a creative thinker.
- Leadership to motivate and guide contributors of projects
- Team player with good communication skills and leadership allowing you to interact easily with colleagues, customers and partners.
- A passion for new technologies, experimentation, exploration and finding of new solutions in collaboration with talented people.
- Fluency in English
